Italian Coffee Shops 101

As a coffee lover, my philosophy is you really know a place is good if they have good coffee. So, if you are planning your next trip to Italy here are some great coffee shops to check out.

My first recommendation for having the best coffee experience in Italy is going to Sant' Eustachio Il Caffè. It is located at Piazza Sant’Eustachio which is near the Pantheon in Rome. It's a pretty small place and you will have to wait in a long line but it's truly worth the wait. A word of caution, they have outside seating but in order to seat outside you will need to spend some euros to seating due to services fees but besides that, it's a great experience and they have a standing area where you can sip and enjoy your coffee. I recommend the "caffè ol' elité " which is known as espresso. Also, try the "la mochella" which is like an Italian mocha (very delicious I may add) and lastly, the "il cappuccino" which is known as cappuccino.

My second favorite coffee spot in Italy is Don Nino pasticceria which is a delicious bakery and cafe at the Piazza del Duomo that is located in the heart of the historic center of Florence. They are also known for their amazing gelatos, after all, it is the birthplace of gelato so take my word for it when I say YUM! However, this post is about coffee so I recommend trying the cappuccino with a chocolate croissant. It's nice to pair a strong and bitter with something sweet but they also have many other coffee options if you aren't into cappuccinos. So if I were you I would definitely check out Don Nino pasticceria on your next visit in Florence.

Another one of my favorite coffee spots is located in Amalfi, Italy is the Pasticceria Andrea Pansa. It's a really nice place where you can just sit down and sip a cup of coffee. Along for being known for their coffee, they're also known for their many assorted delicious pastries as well! I personally recommend trying the cappuccino or espresso at the Pasticceria Andrea Pansa along with their famous "delizia al limone" which is a type of lemon cake. I promise you that the "delizia al limone" is really worth trying! So if I were you I would definitely check out Pasticceria Andrea Pansa on your next visit in Amalfi, I promise you won't regret going here!

These are my top three favorite coffee shops in Italy and I really hope that you get to try them out on your next visit to Italy!
