PROMOTE HAPPINESS IN YOUR WORKPLACE!
August brings us HAPPINESS HAPPENS MONTH, so what better time to start promoting happiness in your workplace!
Mental health and wellbeing is an increasing concern within the workplace. Workplace stress is of particular concern in many organizations, and it is important for employers to recognize that stress may actually be leadership and cultural issue which causes decline in employee wellbeing.
Statistics show that less than half of employees would feel able to speak to their manager if they were suffering from stress, and a quarter of people would even consider resigning due to stress!
Reducing workplace stress doesn’t have to be an expensive or time-consuming task; it doesn’t have to involve allowing flexible working or early finishes on a Friday if this isn’t feasible for your organization, it could be doing something as simple as adopting a caring management style, promoting work social events or just spreading the happiness.
So, what is Happiness Happens Month?
Happiness Happens month is about celebrating what makes you happy, which in turn can promote motivation, positivity, and good mental health! And while workplace stress can be influenced by the employer, it is also important to encourage individual wellbeing!
Happiness Happens month might sound trivial but there is a very important message behind it; sometimes a small action can have a big impact. So this Happiness Happens month why not share the positivity in your workplace by setting up a ‘What made you smile today?’ notice board, or by doing something nice for a colleague!
